Lynn Slonaker

Creative expression has always been a necessary and extremely important part of my life. Influenced by many wonderful artists and mentors, including my father, my creative expression is also derived from my professional careers as a graphic designer and art director, as well as a twenty-five year interior design business.

Painting has become my primary creative outlet. It has taught me to be more present and magnified my observational skills. It’s much need therapy in the hectic world we live in.

My affinity for coastal wetlands, beaches, as well as the changing seasons, rolling hills and dramatic skies are my inspiration. I see the elements of design all around me. The colors, shapes, textures, light and shadow-play all contribute to the beautiful natural rhythms I see.

Through my paintings I strive to capture the feeling of time and place in Plein Air or in my studio, primarily in oil or gouache.
