Exploring longer studies, slow observations of the changes of light and shadow as the
light changes over the course of the the day: trying to to express time in 2 dimensions.
Always trying to describe light and color and place and time by changing the color of the
surface.
Long ago, when the earth was young, I graduated from NYU with a degree in studio art. My studies have included classes at the Art Student’s League and The School of Visual Arts. Current projects integrate classis painting and drawing techniques with the digital world. Light changes rapidly, I use reference photographs to record light and shadow and go from there.
My work is in collections in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdon. I have exhibited at galleries including 55 Mercer Gallery and 80 Washington Square East Gallery in NYC: I have been lucky enough to exhibit work in juried shows in the NY/NJ/CT area, some of my editorial illustrations have been featured in Forbes, Newsweek, and Scientific American.
Recently I completed a two year series based on “analemma” the declination of the sun and the equation of time for each day of the year, it was a perfect project for the Covid years. Currently I am returning to drawing with pencil and ink wash, studies of the sand as the tide goes out, the texture of knitting, experimenting with translucent surfaces like vellum and frosted acetate.
